February 2018

From the Desk of Dr. Cotton

There are so many exciting things happening in HCPS right now! As we gear up for the spring semester and the busy-ness that comes with that season, I want to encourage each of you to take time in this month of February to focus on what you love about education - our students! Devote time to continuing to develop relationships with students and colleagues...and schedule time to show yourself some love as well. The remaining days of winter don't have to be long and dreary - make them warm and engaging as we all celebrate the joys of supporting students.

Shop for Your Classroom - For FREE!

HCPS is excited to receive several pallets of goods from a major retail craft store for use in our classrooms. School staff members may come to the Department of Social Services building to "shop" for items for use with students on February 16, 26, and 27 from 3:00-5:30. Bring your own bags/boxes! For more information, contact Monica at mhatchet@henry.k12.va.us.

Wellness Matters: Exercise is a Key Component in Preventing Heart Disease

The American Heart Association suggests that you get at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week or 75 minutes of vigorous exercise per week. An easy way to keep track of your exercise is to aim for 30 minutes a day, five times a week.
